Executive Summary Essay Example for Free
Executive Summary Essay Posted by Petra at 1:43 PM No comments: Wednesday, January 9, 2008 9. Pricing Price is the amount of money a buyer has to sacrifice in order to get what he/she wants. Pampers tends to make their products available to wide range of customers, so their price must also be affordable, reasonable and relatively low. Ive already mentioned that Pampers makes constant improvements of the products, but also of the production process with new technology. That makes possible lowering of the price with no back step in the products quality. PG generally uses the strategy of price reductions on recognized brands, cost control throught the organization, and introduction of economy-priced products worldvide. Pampers often uses price promotion mix by giving coupons and temporary discounts to generate higher sales. Price promotion mix is generally used to reinforce the basic price mix which includes fixed prices and terms of payment, whereas price promotion mix represents additional reductions in order to tempt customer to buy. For example, Pampers coupons are given in some stores on the register when a customer buys competitors products This is a way in encouraging potential customers to join the crew and discouraging them in buying competitors products! Pampers also uses non monetary promotions in order to avoid contractions in customers quality perception and to enhance brand loyalty. Pampers must be careful with its pricing decisions because the demand for diapers is relatively elastic nowadays. That means that sudden change of prices can decrease the demand in the extent that higher profits wouldnt be able of covering that. The biggest cause of this sensitive situation is the presence of competition with similar, slightly differentiated products.

Cancer and the Immune System Essay -- Biology T Cells
Have you ever eaten something without washing your hands or been next to someone who sneezed? If you have then you've been exposed to millions of germs. The world is full of germs (microorganisms) - things like bacteria and viruses which can make us sick - and simple things like breathing and eating are constantly exposing us to them. Sometimes we get sick, but amazingly enough, most of the time we donââ¬â¢t. Our bodyââ¬â¢s ability to fight off disease is due to the incredible immune system. Several T cells (white) attacking a tumor However, at times something goes wrong with the immune system. Everyone gets sick once in a while, and beyond making us ill, there are still many diseases which can kill people. Cancer is a disease which manages to defeat the immune system. But how? For years cancer immunologists assumed that the cells of the immune system simply couldnââ¬â¢t recognize tumor cells. After all, if they could, cancer would be no more serious than the common cold. The many people who die each year from cancer seem to support the view that the immune system is blind to tumor cells. However, new experimental evidence indicates otherwise. As often happens in science the assumed or most obvious view is not always the correct one. In a study designed to investigate exactly how cancerous cells defeat the immune system, a collaborating group of scientists found some very interesting results. In a Nature Medicine journal article titled ââ¬Å"Characterization of circulating T cells specific for tumor-associat ed antigens in melanoma patientsâ⬠they discovered a phenomenon we have dubbed Dead Cells Walking. The first problem was to identify anti-melanoma T cells. To do this they first harvested lymphocytes from the peripheral blood of mela... ... be no cure. The fact that specific TAA cells are present in people with metastatic disease opens up a completely new realm for oncologists. Perhaps new cancer therapies will be aimed at reviving the anergic T cells. This would allow physicians to work with the immune system of their patients, and together, maybe the cancer can be defeated. In addition, the study showed that chemotherapy significantly decreased the levels of anti cancer TAA cells. If those cells can somehow be revived, than a standard anti cancer chemotherapy regimen may actually be doing more harm than good. Physicians treat disease with the knowledge they have about how it works. Their treatments then, can only be effective if their knowledge is correct. As a result, studies such as this one, which clarify disease mechanisms, are critical for the continued advancement of the medical profession.

Essay on Sophocles Antigone - Antigones Fatal Flaw :: Antigone essays
It is clear that Creon's tragic flaw was his pride, arrogance and beliefs of a leader that cause his downfall. His downfall began when he denied the burial of Polyneices and was firm when he condemned Antigone for her objection to his law. Creon represents the laws of the land and the divine ruler of society. He remains loyal in upholding his laws and trying to overpower the laws of the gods, until the end when he realizes that the divine laws are stronger than his own. His regards for the laws of the city cause him to abandon all other beliefs. He feels that all should obey the rules set forth by him, even if other beliefs, moral or religious, state otherwise. This is proven when he says, "As long as I am King, no traitor is going to be honored with the loyal man. But whoever shows by word and deed that he is on the side of the State-he shall have my respect while he is living and my reverence when he is dead" (40). This proves that no one should disobey his rules even if the people that he rules for thinks his morals are wrong. But no one wants to speak out or stand up to Creon because they all fear him and afraid to loose their life going against his words. But Antigone isn't afraid of Creon or the consequences that faces her if she goes against his ruling. Creon knows that Antigone would not back down, she shows him that she is not afraid of the consequences but yet still he wants to prove himself that his word is law even if the gods advised him that he would loose everything important to him. Creon is in a position of great power, influence and responsibility. The extent of his power is quite clear when he sentenced Antigone to death for disobeying his order. Antigone's reasons for burying her brother were simply the fact that she was demonstrating her love, honor, and loyalty to her family. However, the reason Creon is furious is that he feels insulted that Antigone openly and publicly disobeyed him. He was also inflamed that she was his niece and his son Haemon fiancé. It is known that in ancient times when a man's authority is threatened, especially by a woman, his ego is irreparably damaged. Creon being a new king wants to prove his abilities as king.

Top Gear Reviwe
As Jeremy Clarkson explained on Twitter, ââ¬Å"fat people singingâ⬠has been in Top Gearââ¬â¢s way for the past year. So itââ¬â¢s ironic that the programs return opened with the overweight presenter screeching ââ¬Å"weââ¬â¢re back! â⬠with all the keenness of a desperate X Factor finalist. This is where comparison between padded-out talent contestants and Top Gear end; however the free-wheeling motoring show was very nearly a full hour of fun, witty entertainment. Top gear was officially complained about by the Indian High Commission on its recent trip to India.Jokes about terrorism, the Nazi regime and incest in tonightââ¬â¢s episode suggest Top Gearââ¬â¢s tone remained unchanged by critics and complainers. The banter between Top Gear trio Richard Hammond, May and Clarkson just great, May was old; Hammondââ¬â¢s choice of clothes was laughable, Clarkson moaned about motorway signs in his usual comic way. The Homelandââ¬â¢s star Damian Lewis was the â â¬ËStar in a Reasonably Priced Carââ¬â¢, who dropped names and great storyââ¬â¢s (playing at Old Trafford, surviving a motorcycle accident) with genuine humour, which was much needed, because a few jokes seem a bit manufactured. Top Gear thrived outside of its dull studio. We saw Hammond yell theatrically inside a ââ¬Å"savageâ⬠supercar: the Pagani Huayra is worth ? 800,000 and now takes its place at the top of the Power Lap Board ââ¬â which set the bar high for the rest of the series. Eagle-eyed fans will have seen Septemberââ¬â¢s leaked footage of May co-driving a Bentley continental GT Speed on a WRC rally stage. Tonightââ¬â¢s full feature was one of dramatic skies, dark forests and a tough lesson for him in rally driving (rally pace notes: directions given in hasty anticipation to the driver). ââ¬Å"Either get it right or shut upâ⬠, growled Mayââ¬â¢s quietly, terrifyingly soiled professional driver.Pleasingly, the Bentleyââ¬â¢s four-wheel driv e dealt well with a proper thrashing. Enthusiastically, Clarkson showed us his self created ââ¬ËP45ââ¬â¢. The vehicle (it can hardly be called a car) aims to be smaller than the Peel P50 ââ¬â a 1960s micro mobile invented for city driving. Clarkson, just shy of two metres tall, was transformed into a grumpy toy robot in the weird contraption, driving along country lanes, bombing down dual carriageways and sneaking into shopping centres with pleasant hilarity. Add in some comical humour, serious cool cars and itââ¬â¢s like top gear never went away.

Maquiladoras essays
Maquiladoras essays What role does maquiladora play in the development of a country? Why is this phenomenon seen as a new phase in capitalist development? Is this a reasonable claim? The role that the maquila plays in the development of a country is an interesting topic to discuss. To understand the role that maquiladoras play, one must first gain an understanding of the original purpose of the maquila. Then, by studying the evolution of the maquiladora to a big manufacturing base, one may have a better understanding of how this type of firm may lead to the development of the host country. In section two, I will provide the opinions of some economists and their insights as to how the maquiladora has affected developing countries. The third section deals with capitalism and how maquiladoras play a role in the development of a capitalist economy. In section four, I will discuss my opinions on the arguments that I have presented. The final section will include some concluding remarks. Now, let us familiarize The word maquiladora is derived from the Spanish verb maquilar, which means to mill wheat into flour. Farmers would mill wheat into portions and then give a portion to the miller; this portion was called a maquila. As time passed, the word maquila became associated with manufacturing, assembly and packaging processes that were carried out by someone that was not the original manufacturer. In todays economic world, the word maquiladora stands for a special type of company in Mexico (Maquila Overview 1). The component that makes the maquiladora different from any other manufacturing plant is that they are allowed to import raw materials, equipment, and parts needed for assembly, and export the finished good to the United States on a duty free basis (Maquilas 1). ...
